When can I apply for a learner's permit in Idaho?

Teens can apply for a driver training instruction permit when they are 14½ years old.

What are the requirements to get my learner's permit?

Teens can receive their driver training instruction permit by visiting the local driver exam office with a parent or guardian and showing the proper documentation. Upon completion of driver education, teens can receive a supervised instruction permit. When teens have held a supervised instruction permit for at least six months and have completed 50 hours of driving practice, they can apply for an intermediate license. To receive this license, they must pass a written knowledge test, a driving test and a vision test.
