Getting your driver’s license can be an exciting time. However, before you can hit the open road on your own, you will need to complete a three step licensing process. The first of those steps is getting your graduated instruction permit, otherwise known as a learner’s permit. If you are at least 15 years and 6 months old, you are eligible to apply for this permit.

In order to receive your learner’s permit, you are required to take and pass the Arizona written drivers knowledge test. The permit test, as it is more often called, is a general knowledge quiz based on the rules of the road and recognition of road signs. It is given in multiple choice format, and can be taken at an Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) office.
